Pastor Donald Moore is a
Philadelphia transplant who has lived here for over
20 years. He was licensed in the ministry in
1994 and ordained by Word of Hope Ministries in
2002. He also served as Chair of the Cobb
Assistance Partnership, which is an alliance of both
churches and government agencies who work together
to assist those in need.
Pastor Moore is currently the
pastor of the Shepherd's House which he started in
April of 2009. With the support of
his loving family, Pastor Moore also founded In The Mean Time
Ministries, Inc. in May of 2000.
In the Mean Time Ministries is a
non-profit organization dedicated to providing food,
clothing and shelter to the community. Pastor
Moore is fully aware that the homeless and
economically disadvantaged need nourishment and that
sometimes, that does not come in the form of food.
That is why Pastor Moore is dedicated to provide for
those who need physical food and is dedicated to
provide a means to receive spiritual food as well,
allowing those who seek assistance to have hope for
a better tomorrow by increasing their self-worth and
self-esteem and reminding them that God loves you
and Jesus can save you.
Under the leadership of Pastor
Moore, "In the Mean Time Ministries, Inc." does more than
feed the hungry. It provide jobs to the homeless,
cleaning services, moving services and more. The
arms of this ministry include:
-
A Place of Worship for the
Homeless
-
Food Pantries
-
Temporary Staffing Services
-
Moving and Cleaning Services
-
Annual Thanksgiving and
Christmas Dinners
-
Thrift Stores
-
Training
Pastor Moore says, "Even though I
was never homeless or jobless, God placed this
ministry on my heart. God has a way of affecting us
when we commence to look at people and see that they
are people just like us. We all go through
difficulties, we all go through challenges. How
ever, some people do not bounce back as readily as
others. They get stuck in hopelessness, in
depression. That is why the homeless is my
congregation. And while they may be fighting drug
abuse and might not own a suit and tie, they still
want to come together and worship and I am their
shepherd.
